Craig Strickland Missing After Hunting Trip
On Saturday, lead singer of country rock band Backroad Anthem, Craig Strickland, 29, went missing with friend, Chase Morland, 22. The pair went duck hunting and never returned. Strickland’s black lab, Sam, was found alive while Morland was found dead on Monday. Strickland’s boat was found capsized.
Strickland’s wife, Helen Strickland, 2014’s Miss Arkansa USA, is asking for prayers for a safe return of her husband of one year. The former beauty queen tweeted: “We love you Craig Michael. Come home.”

She has made continuing Twitter updates for the ongoing search of her missing husband. Spirits were raised upon finding the lab alive walking the bank of the Arkansa River on Monday.
Conditions in the South have been dire since it was hit with a round of storms and tornados. Twenty-four hours after the pair left, the family worried they might have lost contact with them. Late Monday night, the boat was found capsized in Kaw Lake. Noting that Strickland is an avid hunter, the family is hopeful he survived the harsh weather conditions.
The other band members of Backroad Anthem also continue to tweet for prayers and support for their missing lead singer. The hashtag #praysforCraig is circulating around Twitter with fans showing their concern.
A chilling foreshadowing tweet from the now deceased Morland has also been circulating. The tweet read, “In case we don’t come back, @BackroadCraig and I are going right through Winter Storm Goliath to kill ducks in Oklahoma.” The tweet was signed off with a smiling emoji and the hashtag #IntoTheStorm.

According to Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the search continued this morning after being called off due to darkness falling and dangerous weather conditions.
