Former NFL quarterback Craig Morton filed a federal lawsuit against the league for not protecting him and his fellow players from head injury.

Morton’s attorneys argue that the NFL failed to utilize the comprehensive research at their disposal during their client’s time in the league, according to USA Today Sports. The attorneys, who are representing several other former football players, claim that instead of listening to outside research on concussion-producing hits the NFL "produced industry-funded, biased, and falsified research."

Morton played an impressive total of 18 seasons with the NFL – spending time on the rosters of the Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants and the Denver Broncos from 1965 to 1982. During his illustrious career on the gridiron, Morton threw 183 touchdowns and was sacked a potentially dangerous 405 times. The all-star pocket-thrower brought both the Cowboys and the Broncos to the Super Bowl, although neither team took home the win.

This most recent lawsuit hitting the NFL does not lists a specific amount in compensatory or punitive damages. This past August, the NFL signed off on a $765 million settlement in a lawsuit that involved thousands of former players. Like this suit, it had to do with negligence in head trauma prevention.
