Late singer Liam Payne’s toxicology test results have revealed he had multiple drugs in his system at the time of his death, including cocaine and crack.
The former One Direction star died last week at 31 after falling from the third-story balcony of his hotel room in Argentina. A preliminary report showed he had sustained multiple traumas when he fell, leading to internal and external bleeding.
The autopsy that followed the accident showed cocaine, crack and benzodiazepine – an antidepressant – in Payne’s system. It also showed “pink cocaine,” a drug made up of methamphetamine, ketamine, MDMA and other substances.
Payne most likely used an aluminum pipe to ingest these drugs, as an improvised device was found in his hotel room, along with alcohol and other controlled substances. The singer’s body will remain in Buenos Aires until the full autopsy is complete.
In the hours leading up to the accident, multiple witnesses noted Payne’s destructive behavior and watched as he trashed the hotel and smashed his laptop. The singer was dropped by his record label just days beforehand and was facing stalking allegations from his ex-girlfriend at the time of his death.
Following his death, Payne’s former One Direction bandmates paid tribute to the late singer in a joint statement on Instagram.

“We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing,” they said. “In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.”
“The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever,” they continued. “For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly.”
