Cowell Tinkers With Idol

American Idol is making a some big changes for Season Eight, which starts at 8 p.m on Tuesday. Songwriter Kara DioGuardi will join Randy Jackson, Paula Abdul and producer Simon Cowell on the judges' panel. "I have been very happy with this panel because we did have a unique chemistry," Cowell told McClatchy newspapers. "I’m of two minds about this because part of me goes, ’If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,’ and the other part, ’Well, it has worked in the U.K.’" The number of tryout weeks will be reduced from four to three weeks as well.
