Joining the growing list of celebrities leaving the U.S. following the second inauguration of President Donald Trump, singer Courtney Love has announced she is relocating to the UK.
In an appearance at the Royal Geographical Society in London, Love, 60, revealed that she is becoming a British citizen in order to escape Trump’s “frightening” second term.

She told the audience, “I’m really glad I’m here. It’s so great to live here. I’m finally getting my British citizenship in six months. I get to be a citizen – I’m applying, man! Can’t get rid of me!”
Love went on to slam the Trump administration, saying, “In terms of Trump, and particularly this group…It’s like emperor-core – like, [they’re] wearing million-dollar watches. Emperor-core is going on at Mar-a-Lago. It’s frightening now. It’s like cyanide now.”

Other celebrities who have fled the country include Rosie O’Donnell, Ellen DeGeneres, Eva Longoria and America Ferrera, who also is rumored to have relocated to the U.K.
Love and her daughter, Frances Cobain, have been living in London since 2019, and Love has been open about her plans to settle down in the city for a long time. She told The Daily Mail back in 2017, “I know I’m going to end up there. I know what neighborhood I’m going end up in, and I know that I want to be on the Thames… it’s amazing.”
In addition to the many celebrities jumping ship from the country, it has been reported that one in every four Americans has shown plans to leave the U.S. This week it was revealed that applications for UK citizenships skyrocketed in the last quarter of 2024, seeing a 40% rise by the year. Last year, over 6,100 U.S. citizens applied, which marks the most applications since the records began over two decades ago.
The “woke” celebrities abandoning the U.S. have been playfully nicknamed “Donald Dashers.”
