Courteney Cox Honors ‘Friends’ Co-Star Matthew Perry With Outtake From The Series
Courteney Cox is speaking out about Matthew Perry’s death.
She posted a video on Instagram that showed her and Perry acting together in the iconic sitcom.
Cox shared outtake footage that showed her and Perry making jokes with the studio audience.
“I am so grateful for every moment I had with you Matty and I miss you every day,” Cox began the post. “When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments I wish I could share. For now, here’s one of my favorites.”
The outtake was from the Friends season 4 finale, “The One With Ross’ Wedding,” in which Cox’s Monica and Perry’s Chandler were revealed to have started a romantic relationship.
“To give a little backstory, Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one-night fling in London. But because of the audience’s reaction, it became the beginning of their love story,” she shared.
Co-creator Marta Kauffman said in 2017 that Chandler and Monica were not meant to stay together long-term in the series.
“Our intention was not for them to be as serious as they became,” she recalled.
Due to overwhelming audience approval, the writers decided to play with the storyline for the rest of the season.
Perry was found unresponsive in his hot tub and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 54 years old.
