Fulton County, Georgia, District Attorney Fani Willis is accused of having an affair with special prosecutor Nathan Wade.

Willis hired Wade to be part of the election case against former President Donald Trump. Once he was appointed special prosecutor, Wade filed for divorce the day after and asked the documents to be sealed by the court.

When the allegations were brought up by a defense attorney, a Georgia judge ordered Wade’s divorce case with his ex-wife Joycelyn Wade to be unsealed.

According to the divorce filing, Wade’s credit card charges included trips to Florida and California. Plane tickets were purchased under Willis’ name. Joycelyn’s lawyers also claimed Wade hid his work earnings from Joycelyn to avoid paying his share in the divorce.

Initial concerns of an “improper relationship” were introduced in an attempt to get Trump’s case dismissed. Willis has defended her position. She believes Joycelyn and her legal team are trying to taint her reputation and are “obstructing and interfering with an ongoing criminal prosecution.”

However, Joycelyn’s lawyers have said that they do not wish to depose her as Fulton County D.A. but rather uncover her role in Wade’s divorce.

“I have questions and [Willis] needs to answer them,” said Joycelyn’s attorney, Andrea Hastings.

Judge Henry Thompson oversaw the arguments made about unsealing the divorce documents in an emergency hearing on Monday in Cobb County Superior Court. Thompson stated that to seal the documents initially, a hearing must also be held but none had occurred.

A separate hearing is scheduled to be held in February to probe Willis and Wade’s alleged affair.
