Could Rami Malek’s Villain In ‘No Time To Die’ Be The Best Bond Villain Yet?

Even though the movie has been long delayed, many fans are excited to see twenty-fifth installment in the James Bond franchise No Time to Die. Daniel Craig will make his fifth and final performance as the iconic spy character James Bond. However, what people are especially looking forward to in No Time to Die is the new main villain Safin, played by popular actor Rami Malek. On September 14, the filmmakers of No Time to Die released a brief video in which they talk about the highly anticipated villain in the upcoming 007 picture.

In the video, the audience is first shown brief shots from the film, including an action scene with a car, brief footage of Craig as James Bond, an action scene in the woods and the main love interest in the film Madeleine Swann played by Léa Seydoux looking at a mask. Seydoux’s character explains to Bond that the antagonist’s name is Safin. When Bond asks what Safin wants, she states that he wants revenge. We then see Malek talking about his character, stating that he really wanted to make Safin unsettling and someone who thinks of himself as heroic. We soon cut back to the villain talking to Madeleine and saying that he is a man who is willing to kill the person she loves most. When she claims that she has already lost everyone she ever loved, Safin silently gives her an unimpressed and unconvinced look.

The audience is shown the director of the film Cary Joji Fukunaga as he explains that Safin is such a terrifying character due to what he is willing to do both on a global level and personally to Bond himself. Safin is then heard comparing himself to Bond, stating that they both eradicate people to make the world a better place, except he himself wishes to be a little tidier. The video cuts to Malek who states that Safin is a formidable adversary and Bond needs to be able to adapt to that.

No Time to Die will finally be released on November 12 in the United Kingdom and November 20 in the United States. It will be exciting to see how Craig’s final go at James Bond will turn out and how Malek will compare to previous 007 villains.
