Cote de Pablo announced she would be leaving popular CBS procedural drama NCIS earlier this month, which caused a general outcry from the hit series' dedicated fans. Her departure, according to CBS chief executive Leslie Moonves, was completely of her own volition.

“[De Pablo] was offered a lot of money then offered some more money,” Moonves said, but could not be convinced to stay onboard the show, reported Newsday. Mooves’ remark echoes the statement CBS put out when news first broke about Pablo leaving the show.

“We respect Cote’s decision, thank her for being an important part of the NCIS team, and for eight terrific years playing Ziva David," the statement read. "Cote and CBS share a great respect for the NCIS audience, and we look forward to working with her and the producers on appropriate closure in this chapter of Ziva’s story."

In her own statement, de Pablo had said, “I’ve had 8 great years with NCIS and Ziva David. I look forward to finishing Ziva’s story."

De Pablo will return for the beginning of NCIS' 11th season, where her character will be gradually phased out. Among the many lose ends to be tied up will be her character Ziva’s tenuous relationship with Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly). Known as "Tiva" by shippers, the pair shared an intimate moment in last season that could mean they’re finally ready to pursue the spark between them.

The 11th season premiere of NCIS will air Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 8/7c.
