Martin Shkreli has claimed that he and Barron Trump are behind the launch of the DJT crypto token following a rally in the price of the meme coin on rumors it’s related to Donald Trump.
Shkreli, an investor and convicted securities fraud referred to as “Pharma Bro,” told online crypto investigator ZachXBT he had worked with Barron to launch the coin following a hunt for those behind it.
“I have over 1000 pieces of evidence that I created it with Barron,” he said in private messages posted to X.
Shkreli reiterated the claims in a live event on X, in which he stated he worked with a team of 40-50 people, including the 18-year-old son of the former president, to launch the CDJT token.
DJT, a Solana-based token, surged by up to 180% on Monday following a report from Pirate Wires that Barron spearheaded the creation of the coin.
Shkreli was released from prison in May 2022 after serving seven years. He was found guilty of two counts of securities fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit securities fraud concerning his tenures at the hedge fund MSMB Capital Management and pharmaceutical company Retrophin.
Barron recently graduated from high school and reportedly will attend New York University in the fall.
