Steve Alembik, a major donor to Donald Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), shot and killed himself on October 10 in an attempted murder-suicide.

The 72-year-old was found dead after shooting himself and an unidentified woman, who is believed to be his wife, in a BurerFi outlet parking lot in Delray Beach, Florida.

The woman survived and was transported to a local hospital.

Alembik was a major GOP donor, giving more than $200,000 to political campaigns over the past 20 years, including thousands to Trump and DeSantis.

In 2018, Alembik was scrutinized for referring to former President Barack Obama with curse words in a tweet.

He also stated that then-Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg “can’t die soon enough.”

In the wake of harsh criticism from both sides of the aisle, Alembik claimed that he was not racist and regretted his comments.

Alembik also donated to then-Florida Gov. Rick Scott and to DeSantis around the time of the tweet. Both politicians then sought to distance themselves from him.

Republican officials to whom Alembik had donated have yet to comment on his death.
