Controversial Act Schumacher Goes Viral For ‘So-Bad-It-Was-Good’ Performance On ‘America’s Got Talent’

The recent Quarterfinals episode of the latest season of America’s Got Talent has been filled with both excitement and controversy, as a Golden Buzzer act from earlier in the season, Schumacher, returned to the stage and caused a stir among both the judges and the fans.

The duo performance act, Schumacher, had previously received a Golden Buzzer from judge Sofia Vergara in their initial audition. However, their Quarterfinals performance, which featured them acting out scenes as horses and other animals dressed in full-length, skintight bodysuits, was not well-received by the judges or the audience.

Vergara appeared to regret her decision afterwards as she held her head down in her hands.

Judge Simon Cowell gave the act an “X” halfway through their performance, and fellow judge Heidi Klum even joked that it was “so bad, it was good.”

Many fans expressed their disappointment and frustration on social media, as many called the act “stupid” and a “waste of time” that took up a spot that could have been given to a more deserving act.

Despite the backlash, Vergara stood by her decision to use the Golden Buzzer on Schumacher and noted the act’s “unique” and “fun” nature.

Schumacher took to social media to express their gratitude for the opportunity, and stated,

“We are Schumacher! Thank you for watching AGT! We understand what you all want to say…We’re very sorry for causing any discomfort.”

The duo added, “But we’re proud to have stood on this stage, and the Golden Buzzer that Sofia gave us is our treasure.”

The controversy around Schumacher’s Quarterfinals performance draws attention to the debate around the role of the Golden Buzzer in America’s Got Talent. This season, the show introduced a new twist – the Golden Buzzer can now be used in the live shows, which judges can use to send acts straight to the finals.

While some viewers saw this as a desperate attempt to generate excitement, others argued that it undermined the audience’s voting power.
