Conservative ‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Host Pat Sajak Questions Continual Stay-At-Home Orders

On Saturday, Wheel of Fortune host Pat Sajak took to Twitter to share his views on the continued stay-at-home orders many Americans are facing.

Sajak’s tweet read, “When a disc jockey or a talk show host or a journalist who is being paid to work from his or her home tells people who can’t work, pay bills or pay their rent or mortgage to ‘Stay home and be careful because we’re all in this together,’ it’s okay to question the premise.”

The game show host sympathized with the many Americans who have lost work during this time. His tweet suggests the need for reopening the country.

Sajak has received both positive reinforcement and negative backlash for his tweet.

The host has tweeted frequently during the pandemic. Most of Sajak’s comments have been cynical, mocking celebrity lifestyle and showing his distaste for the current state of affairs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Sajak’s April 27 tweet read, “I hope you understand how difficult this situation is for celebrities. Instead of being pampered and flattered by everyone, we are forced to sit in our homes just like regular people. Please don’t forget about us. Any kind words of support would be appreciated. #AdoptACelebrity”

On May 10, he wrote, “I’m so tired of the term “two weeks” (as in, “two weeks to flatten the curve,” “we’ll know more in two weeks,” “it takes two weeks…” etc, etc.) When this is over, I plan to bring back the word “fortnight” so I never have to use the TW words again.”

Sajak’s comment came after the New York Times report on May 14, which stated that more than 36 million workers have filed for unemployment in the past two months. As of Monday, the virus has claimed over 90,000 American lives.
