Conservative Pundit Candace Owens Blasted For Minimizing The Holocaust

Prominent conservative media personality Candace Owens ignited a firestorm of controversy when she made a series of false claims about World War II and the Holocaust.

Owens’ comments, which downplayed the atrocities committed by Nazi Germany, have drawn swift and widespread condemnation from a variety of public figures and organizations.

In the video, titled ‘Literally Hitler. Why Can’t We Talk About Him?’, Owens questioned the taboo that surrounds discussions of Hitler and Nazi Germany, and suggested that education about this period amounts to “indoctrination” akin to “Soviet tactics.” She further claimed that the portrayal of Hitler as the “greatest evil” is not factually or statistically accurate.

Owens said, “Some of the stories, by the way, sound completely absurd… They just cut a human up and sewed them back together? Why would you do that?… Literally, even if you’re the most evil person in the world, that’s a tremendous waste of time and supplies.” She also cast doubt on the well-documented medical experiments conducted by the notorious Nazi doctor Josef Mengele, and dismissed them as mere “bizarre propaganda.”

These statements drew immediate and scathing condemnation from various public figures and organizations. Philanthropist Adam Milstein accused Owens of being “blinded by Jew-hatred,” while international human rights lawyer Arsen Ostrovsky declared her to be a “full-blown Neo-Nazi.”

The Combat Antisemitism Movement vehemently rejected Owens’ denials of the Mengele experiments. Historians and researchers have meticulously documented the atrocities committed by Mengele and other Nazi figures, which include the harrowing experiments on twins, forced sterilizations, and the injection of diseases, among many other cruelties.

In addition to her controversial claims about the Holocaust, Owens drew comparisons between Nazi scientists and U.S. institutions, such as the CIA and Planned Parenthood, and suggested that the United States had engaged in similar “experimentation” practices.

Earlier this year, Owens made comments in the aftermath of the Oct. 7 Hamas attack in which she denounced “genocide.” She soon parted ways from the Daily Wire after a reported feud with co-founder Ben Shapiro over Israel and antisemitism. Shapiro called her behavior “absolutely disgraceful.”
