Conor McGregor Stands Trial For Alleged Assault Of Woman In Dublin Hotel

Martial arts fighter Conor McGregor stands accused of raping a woman in a hotel penthouse in Dublin, Ireland inthe city’s High Court.

Nikita Ni Laimhin has filed a civil damages lawsuit against McGregor and one other man for their alleged assault on her in 2018. McGregor’s lawyers are claiming Ni Liamhin is attempting extortion.

A jury in Dublin was told that McGregor picked Ni Liamhin and her friend up from a Christmas party. The two women were under the impression that they were heading to another party, but ended up going back to the home of James Lawrence.

McGregor allegedly shared a bag of cocaine with the women before going to a penthouse suite in the city’s Beacon Hotel. According to the prosecution, McGregor asked Ni Laimhin to join him in a bedroom and “came on to her,” though she told him she did not want to have sexual intercourse.

Ni Laimhin claims that McGregor pinned her down on the bed and, though she tried, she could not push him off of her.

“You will see pictures of her hands and wrists which are black and blue. You will see that her left breast has a bloodied scratch. The scratch is there because she was wearing a watch and had her hands up to protect herself. She was pressed down on and the watch scarred her breast,” Ni Laimhin’s lawyer argued.

Following the alleged incident, Ni Laimhin was taken by her mother to a hospital. She reportedly had intercourse with Lawrence after being assaulted by McGregor, though her lawyer claims she has no recollection of this.

McGregor’s defense team has argued that Ni Laimhin has had several opportunities to come forward about the assault, but she did not. They believe she is engaging in attempted extortion and are denying the allegations.

In June 2023, McGregor was accused of assaulting a different woman after the NBA finals in Miami.
