Tim Wilson, the comedian and country singer known for his hit parody songs, died on Wednesday in Columbus, Ga. He was 52.

Tim Wilson Dies

Wilson’s death was the result of an apparent heart attack, his manager Chris Dipetta told CNN. Wilson had been in the middle of a small tour – having played a gig in Bay City, Mich., and heading to Birmingham, Ala., for two more shows at The Comedy Club Stardome.

“I am very sorry to report that my dear friend Tim Wilson passed away this evening,” Stardome owner Bruce Ayers said on the club’s Facebook page. “I like the entire comedy community am shocked and saddened by this tragic news. Tim was old school, he was on our second show (when the club opened in 1983). I just can’t tell you how much he will be missed.”

Throughout his career, Wilson blended comedy and song, penning a number of popular parody numbers that focused on NASCAR and country music. His biggest hits include "The NASCAR Song", “Garth Brooks Ruined My Life” and “Jeff Gordon’s Gay.” He also wrote Jeff Foxworthy’s hit “Redneck 12 Days of Christmas.”
