The cause of death for comedian Garry Shandling has been revealed to be a blood clot.

GARRY SHANDLING DEATH CAUSED BY BLOOD CLOT

Shandling passed away on March 24 of this year after complaints of shortness of breath and leg pain the day before. The coroner officially listed the cause of death as pulmonary thrombosis. The pain in his leg was undoubtedly caused by a blood clot, which then moved through his body into his lungs, leading to his untimely death.

The 66-year-old, according to a friend, planned to go to the doctor soon. Shandling had therapeutic amounts of Xanax and cold medicine in his system at his time of death as well.

Shandling was well-known through the decades for his work on It’s Garry Shandling’s Show and The Larry Sanders Show, which starred himself as a crazy late-night talk show host. It ran from 1992-1998 on HBO. He got his start in the 70s writing for Saturday Night Live and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.
