A Jewish comedian turned an awful moment into a pretty hilarious one when she showed how to deal with drunk hecklers yelling at her about Joe Biden on a touring comedy show.

The incident occurred at Uncle Vinnie’s Comedy Club at Point Pleasant, New Jersey while Ariel Elias was performing. She confirmed the incident was real online and posted a full video of the ordeal.

Elias, who was accompanied by fellow stand-up Gianmarco Scoresi told Buzzfeed News that a group of about 20 was drinking heavily upon their arrival, and apparently attracted their attention because they were all wearing slightly offensive Mexican-themed outfits.

She apparently did a few minutes of material before launching into a Q&A segment to allow for some audience participation. This is when the video begins, and the heckler is heard offscreen asking Elias “Did you vote for Donald Trump?”

The woman apparently already knew the answer to her own question, because she responded “No,” when Elias asked what she thought. “Why would you ask me that in here, knowing I’m the only Jew in this room? Are you trying to get me killed? If it makes you feel any better, I voted in New York, so it doesn’t matter there,” Elias said.

“I don’t care who you voted for, I’m just happy we’re all here together,” Elias said, trying to deescalate, but the woman quickly interjects with a, “So you voted for Biden?”

“I could just tell by your jokes you voted for Biden,” the heckler said. “I can tell by the fact that you’re still talking when nobody wants you to that you voted for Trump,” the comic hit back.

“Make some noise if you want her to shut up,” Elias added soon after, to loud applause from the rest of the audience. She then reflects that she started the Q&A segment, joking, “That’s on me for thinking I can have a human interaction with somebody.”

As she tries to go back into her routine, a beer can collides with the wall next to her, and Elias looks shocked for a moment.

A security worker is heard saying, “Come on buddy, you can’t do that,” and another voice offscreen says in an annoyed tone, “I’m never coming out with these people ever again.”

Ariel then broke the tension in a hilarious way: by grabbing the beer can thrown at her and drinking the rest of it to cheers from the crowd.

The comedy club owner Dino Ibelli confirmed he had been in contact with the police and that the people who heckled Elias and threw the beer can were reportedly a male and female couple.

They left the venue after the incident, but it should not have been allowed to escalate that far.

Following the incident, plenty of famous comedians including Patton Oswalt, Whitney Cummings and Jimmy Kimmel have voiced their support for her. She may even have secured her first late-night TV appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! thanks to this situation.
