San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is being investigated by Miami police for an alleged sexual assault.
Kaepernick, 26, along with his teammate, wide receiver Quinton Patton, and Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette, are all alleged to have been involved in the April 1 incident. The Miami Police Department’s special victims unit is investigation the reported incident, which took place at the Viceroy hotel in downtown Miami, reported USA Today Sports.
According to an incident report, Kaepernick and Patton were hanging out in Lockette’s apartment when he brought the unidentified woman around, who was allegedly previously acquainted with Kaepernick. The woman says she "mixed some drinks for all of them and gave them shots” and was told to " 'hit' the bong which contained marijuana."
"Mr. Kaepernick came behind her into the bedroom and started kissing her," according to the report, which states the woman had gone to the bedroom because she felt lightheaded. "Mr. Kaepernick started to undress her. She got completely naked. Mr. Kaepernick told her that he was going to be right back and left the bedroom. They did not have sex."
The alleged victim does not remember how she ended up at a hospital. It has yet to be reported whether or not a rape examination was performed on her.
After learning of the investigation, the San Francisco 49ers released the following statement:
"The 49ers organization is aware of the recent media report regarding Colin Kaepernick and is in the process of gathering the pertinent facts."
