Colin Jost Forced To Read Raunchy Jokes About Wife Scarlett Johansson On ‘SNL’

Saturday Night Live wrapped up its 2024 season with its infamous “Weekend Update” Christmas joke swap, leaving Colin Jost, Michael Che, and a stunned Scarlett Johansson at the center of the chaos. The annual tradition, where Jost and Che read jokes they’ve written for each other without prior review, delivered its usual dose of unfiltered hilarity and cringe-worthy moments.
The segment began with Jost announcing, per Che’s mischievous instructions, that he would be delivering his jokes in “Black voice,” setting the tone for what would become an increasingly absurd exchange. The jokes escalated quickly, turning personal when Che’s material targeted Jost’s wife, actress Scarlett Johansson, who watched nervously backstage.
“I want to dedicate this next joke to my boo, Scarlett Johansson,” Jost read, visibly uneasy. The camera cut to Johansson sipping her drink in the green room, her concerned expression drawing laughs even before the punchline landed. Jost proceeded, “Y’all know Scarlett just celebrated her 40th birthday…which means I’m about to get up out of there!”
As the audience roared, Jost groaned, only for Che to urge him to continue. The punchline grew: “We just had a kid together, and y’all ain’t seen no pictures of him yet… because he’s black as hell.”
Jost carried on, announcing that Costco had removed its roast beef sandwich from the menu and delivering an eyebrow-raising quip about his wife. Johansson’s exclamation, “Oh my God, holy s—!” summed up the audience’s reaction.
Che wasn’t spared, either, as Jost turned the tables with a joke about Che attending Sean Combs’ controversial parties amid recent allegations. “Some people are afraid to talk about it, but not Mikey ‘The Truth Bomb’ Che,” he began. Che hesitated but pressed on, adding, “Jay-Z is innocent. He wasn’t even at those parties, and I know because I was!”
Che’s punchline about helping Diddy “get off” earned wild laughter, while Jost chimed in with, “Strange thing to say at a party.”
The chaos culminated in a joke about Moana 2 that Che reluctantly delivered. Referencing Jeffrey Epstein, the punchline veered into deeply inappropriate territory, leaving Che and the audience in stitches while pushing the boundaries of SNL’s humor.
Johansson, who has been married to Jost since 2020, has previously admitted that the Christmas joke swap is one of the most stressful nights of the year. “We need to go into witness protection after that night,” she joked earlier this year. “It’s just brutal.”
