Colin Firth and Rachel Weisz filmed scenes for their forthcoming Donald Crowhurst biopic in Devon, England, Wednesday.

Colin Firth, Rachel Weisz On Set

Firth and Weisz were filming on a boat that was anchored near the Devon coast. Firth was outfitted for the scene in bright yellow waders over a white shirt and black tie. Slightly less prepared for the boating adventure was Weisz in a trench coat, galoshes and a headscarf.

In the biopic, Firth stars as Donald Crowhurst, a British business man and sailor, who entered a contest to circumnavigate the globe on a solo trip. The sailing amateur believed that by competing in the Sunday Times Golden Globe yacht race, that he’d finally get the publicity he needed to launch a nautical navigation device of his creation.

Weisz plays Donald’s wife Clare in the yet-to-be-titled film. While her husband took to the seas, she was tasked with bringing up their four children with little money, as Donald had used most of their funds in order to compete in the race.

The film, with a script from Scott Z. Burns (The Bourne Ultimatum, Side Effects, Contagion) is being directed by James Marsh, who most recently achieved critical success with The Theory of Everything.
