Cody Simpson, 26, posed for steamy shirtless snaps during a beach safety demonstration alongside Surf Life Saving Australia lifesavers in Gold Coast Australia on March 15.

Simpson shared the photos of the free beach safety demo on Instagram, along with a lengthy captain about the event and certain safety measures.

“What if you got caught in a rip current? We’ve had a deadly summer on Aussie beaches and 43% of coastal drowning deaths were from rips. That’s why I teamed up with the legends at @slsaustralia and @lifesaversaustralia to host a free beach safety demo at one of my favourite Gold Coast beaches,” Simpson wrote and advised his followers that they “can avoid rips by swimming at a patrolled beach between the red and yellow flags. If you get caught in a rip, stay calm, float, seek help, swim parallel to the beach.

“Even as a competitive swimmer (and a Nipper as a kid, swipe for a throwback), the ocean is unpredictable and there’s a lot to learn. I’m proud to raise awareness for such an important cause. Thanks to everyone who got amongst it today. #beachsafety #ad

The singer is a member of the Australian swim team and had previously qualified for the 2021 Olympics Swimming Trials, after redirecting his focus on his swimming career, which he admits has inhibited his ability to travel and perform live.

In a second Instagram post for the same event, Simpson warned his followers to “Stay safe in the ocean, swim between the flags.”

“80% of beach drownings in Australia last summer were men and 100% occurred outside patrolled areas. I’m hoping to turn the tides by raising awareness for beach and water safety with @slsaustralia and @lifesaversaustralia,” he concluded.
