Days of Our Lives actor Cody Longo was found dead at his Austin, Texas home on February 8. He was 34, and had passed away in his sleep.

Long-time friend and representative Alex Gittelson suggested that the cause of death was likely an accidental alcohol overdose, an issue that Longo had been grappling with for several years, though exact details are yet to be confirmed.

Gittelson also revealed that Longo had plans to return to acting this year, following a few years of dipping his feet in the music industry and his hopes to spend more time with family in Nashville.

“Cody was our whole world,” Longo’s wife Stephanie Clark said in a statement. “The kids and I are shattered and beyond devastated. He was the best dad and best father. We will always and forever miss you and love you.”

The night of his passing, Clark had called the police to check on him, before they kicked down his door and found him dead.

Longo’s career saw him wearing many hats, from making the 2013 Billboard-charting hit single “She Said” to playing music superstar Eddie Duran in Hollywood Heights to making an appearance in the horror comedy Piranha 3D.

“Cody was such a loyal, loving and talented person and he will be greatly missed,” Gittelson added. “[He was] an extremely talented singer, songwriter, musician and music producer.”
