It's almost that time of year when music fans across the country pack up their vans and head to the desert in Indio, California for Coachella, the multi-day music event of the year.
Goldenvoice, the AEG subsidiary that runs the event, has announced the headliners for this year's concert, which will cover six days over two consecutive weekends in April instead of its traditional three-day run. Dr. Dre and Radiohead are some of the big names you can expect to see perform, along with the Black Keys and the Shins. Hip-hop performers Snoop Dogg, Kaskade, and the Swedish House Mafia will also appear, as well as Pulp, Refused, fIREHOSE, Cat Power, Arctic Monkeys, Girl Tank, Florence + the Machine, Jimmy Cliff, Bon Iver, and many others.
Each weekend of the event (April 13-15 and April 20-22) is a separate ticket, featuring identical lineups of the performers, according to the L.A. Times. Goldenvoice decided to expand the concert based on sheer demand. "We wanted to create access for as many people as possible," said organizer Paul Tollett. "The thought of this selling out super quick, and the only people who get to go are the people who bought the first minute or bought tickets for more than they sold for, that didn't seem great to us. We didn't want to go with more people and ruin the experience. We can't add a midnight show, and we didn't want to add another city or raise the ticket price. So we decided to add another weekend."
Coachella tickets were available for one week last June, though the lineup had not yet been released then. The remaining passes will go on sale on Friday at 10:00 a.m. PST through Coachella's official website.
