CNN Commentator Called Out For ‘Fat-Shaming’ Donald Trump On Air

After former President Donald Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of fraud, CNN anchors Boris Sanchez and Brianna Keilar invited former Trump Press Secretary Hogan Gidley and political commentator Paul Begala to discuss the verdict.

The segment, which was meant to focus on the historic verdict, turned into Begala’s tirade against Trump’s physical appearance. Gidley later commented on current President Joe Biden‘s cognitive state. Sanchez and Keilar attempted to redirect the conversation. Eventually, both Begala and Gidley had their air time cut after the two did not stop their personal comments on Trump and Biden.

After Begala claimed he felt some “pity” for Trump, he threw a jab at the former president’s appearance. “I mean, he’s an obese, flatulent old man with bad makeup and weird hair who had to sit in a courtroom and listen to a porn star testify about how bad he is in bed. If you can’t feel sorry for that guy.”

Sanchez cut off Begala by asking Gidley a question. After Gidley answered, Keilar addressed Begala’s previous comments, saying he was “fat-shaming” the former president. Begala repeated that he felt “sorry for him.”

“He doesn’t look good, and he doesn’t look healthy, and I’m worried about him,” Begala added. “I feel sorry for the guy. My heart goes out to him.”

Gidley took the opportunity to also comment on Biden’s health, citing his apparent “physical and mental decline.” Gidley also claimed Biden had a “weird gait” that had to be hidden.

Both Sanchez and Keilar also jumped in, reminding guests to remain civil. While Gidley continued to speak, Sanchez cut off the interview. Begala tried to make a final comment, but a commercial break interrupted him.

After Trump’s conviction, former adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who was involved in the alleged affair, was “hit hard” by the verdict, according to her attorney.

Trump’s daughter, Ivanka, supported her father on social media by posting a childhood photo with the caption, “I love you, Dad.” Ivanka and Trump’s wife, Melania, have been relatively absent from Trump’s legal affairs. The women were reportedly “embarrassed” by the trials after Ivanka was spotted in Manhattan on the same day of her father’s trial but was absent from the courthouse.
