Emma Watson, who made her cinematic debut as Harry Potter’s Hermione Granger, is embarking to a different wonderland as Belle in the upcoming Beauty and the Beast reimagining. The film’s release draws closer, and a snippet was shared of Watson singing as her character.
The world was introduced to Disney’s Beauty and the Beast in 1991, and 2017 is the year audiences will rediscover it in live-action. A previous teaser only showed a glimpse of Watson in her role, but another tease was aired this past Thursday.
The well-read Belle, like many prominent Disney characters, had an affinity for music. The new Belle, in addition to being “more proactive,” will retain that, and a new audio clip featuring Watson’s singing voice was posted on Twitter:
Fans of the franchise will recognize the song, “Something There,” from the original movie. The soundtrack won’t be entirely composed of returning favorites.
The Bill Condon-directed Beauty and the Beast will hit theaters on March 17.
