During Super Bowl 50, referees usually get the short end of the stick with unruly fans and hot headed coaches, but during last night’s big game, there was nothing but love for ref, Clete Blakeman.
The love was so strong that the hashtag #hotref began trending among the Twitterverse. Dennis Wierl tweeted, “Can we take a moment to talk about #HotRef #SB50.”
Some didn’t even want to watch the game anymore. Marc tweeted, “I wish this football game would stop interrupting the #hotref.”
A spoof account was even made for Blakeman under the name Hot Refree. The spoof account tweeted, “First down, fourth, down; I’m always down.”
