Claire Holt, who is best known for playing Rebekah Mikaelson on The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, is engaged to her longtime boyfriend Matt Kaplan.
Holt announced her engagement to Kaplan on Instagram Monday, captioning a snap with her new fiancé, “Yes!”
Last year, Holt announced that she would be quitting TVD spinoff The Originals in order to focus on her personal life, which clearly included her relationship with producer Kaplan.
“I made a life choice, not a career choice,” she explained at the time.
Since leaving the CW show, Holt has picked up another TV regular role on the Charles Manson inspired Aquarius. To prepare for the show, on which she plays LAPD cop Charmain Tully, Australian actress Holt wanted to continue to improve her American accent, which Kaplan has been helping her out with.
“My boyfriend — Matt Kaplan — is American, so any time I’m unsure of how to say something, I say, ‘Hey how do you say this?’ and he yells it out,” she told People. “I think it’s always going to sound funny to him and not quite right, but hopefully the public who watch it won’t be able to catch on!”
Aquarius airs on NBC Saturdays at 9/8c.
