As the cameras continue to roll on James Gunn‘s highly anticipated Superman film, a special connection to the franchise’s iconic past has emerged. The son of legendary Superman actor Christopher Reeve, Will Reeve, has been confirmed to make a cameo appearance in the future DC Studios production.

The production, which is filmed in Cleveland, has unveiled Reeve’s involvement, with the young journalist set to portray a Metropolis TV reporter in the movie. This casting decision serves as a tribute to the Reeve family’s legacy within the Superman mythos.

Christopher Reeve’s portrayal of the Man of Steel in the 1970s and 1980s remains one of the most iconic interpretations of the character in cinematic history. His lookalike son, Will Reeve, has followed a different path and made a name for himself as a correspondent for ABC News. However, this cameo role allows Reeve to honor his father’s legendary work and contribute to the next chapter of the Superman saga.

Christopher Reeve died at 52 in 2004. He first played the role of Clark Kent-Superman in Richard Donner’s 1978 film, and went on to star in its three sequels, 1980’s Superman II, 1983’s Superman III and 1987’s Superman IV: The Quest for Peace.

In 1995 the actor was paralyzed from the neck down when he was thrown off a horse in an equestrian competition. he spent the remainder of his life in a wheelchair and required a ventilator to breathe.
