Christina Hendricks made a dramatic entrance at the Mad Men Black & Red Ball in Los Angeles Wednesday night in a detachable ball gown.
Hendricks wore an emerald green Zac Posen gown with a full skirt for the Mad Men event. The elegant dress featured a tiny butterfly print along the neckline with the same detailing at the bottom of the skirt. Surprising onlookers on the red carpet, Hendricks changed up her silhouette by removing the full skirt to reveal a sleeker, fishtail skirt underneath.
Hendricks wore her newly strawberry blond tresses in loose waves, rocked an orangey-red lip and accessorized with Art-Deco style jewels. Hendricks, known for her red hair, recently talked about why she decided to go with the softer hair color after she wrapped filming Mad Men.

“It’s [the end of Mad Men] sort of the impetus behind my color change,” she explained to People. “I had been red long before I had played Joan, but they did start to become sort of the same person. I started relating the red to Joan. When everything was coming to an end, and all of sudden I was moving to New York and all these changes were happening I thought why don’t I just embrace the change and change a little bit of everything, and give Joan a nice little send off. It was sort of an emotional thing for me too.”
Mad Men‘s final season resumes Apr. 5 on AMC at 10 p.m. EST.
