Christina Aguilera announced through Twitter that she and producer Matt Rutler had gotten engaged.

Aguilera, 33, tweeted coyly, “‘He asked and I said……,” along with a picture of her and Rutler’s clasped hands, with her new ring fully on display.

"They're very much in love and are really excited to take this next step!" a source told People magazine about the couple.

Aguilera and Rutler, a film producer, have been dating since the end of 2010 after they met on the set of Burlesque. The singer had split from her ex-husband Jordan Bratman earlier that year. With Bratman, Aguilera has a six-year-old son, Max Liron Bratman.

"He's the love of my life, and I adore him," Aguilera said of Rutler on The Ellen DeGeneres Show early in their relationship. "He's such a character, and he's so happy and at the end of the day, that's what's most important."
