Chrissy Teigen has pledged to donate $200,000 to help bail out protestors across the country that have been arrested. She announced her donation on Twitter on May 30.

Originally, Teigen’s donation was the amount of $100,000 after President Donald Trump’s tweet about protestors in Washington D.C.

Trump said, “The professionally managed so-called “protesters” at the White House had little to do with the memory of George Floyd. They were just there to cause trouble. The @SecretService handled them easily. Tonight, I understand, is MAGA NIGHT AT THE WHITE HOUSE???” MAGA stands for “make american great again.”

Teigen’s response read, “In celebration of whatever the f— maga night is, I am committed to donating $100,000 to the bail outs of protestors across the country.”

Later, however, in a since-deleted tweet, one Twitter user criticized Teigen’s donation by calling the protestors “rioters and criminals.” To this Teigen said, “Ooo they might need more money then. Make it $200,000.”

Teigen’s husband John Legend added to the conversation, “Americans have the first amendment right to peacefully protest oppression and injustice. Chrissy and I will be donating to these 3 organizations which are organizing, supporting and defending those marching for justice:  @Mvmnt4BlkLives @nlgnews @bailproject.”

Teigen shared her tweets on Instagram with the caption, “I stand with our heroes out there in support and solidarity. If you don’t know what else to do, every little bit helps. Please see my retweets for direct links. Silence is betrayal.”
