Chris Soules, a farmer from Iowa who vied for Andi Dorfman’s heart on the last season of The Bachelorette, now has the opportunity to find a wife out of 30 women on The Bachelor.

Who Is Chris Soules?

Soules comes from a family of successful farmers in Lamont, Iowa, and has every intention of continuing on with his rural lifestyle. Before Dorfman’s season of the Bachelor, host Chris Harrison pitched Soules as an All-American guy with a real fortune.

“I think people are going to very much fall in love with this guy,” Harrison told USA Today. “He’s a small-town farmer from Iowa, fourth-generation land baron. If you say he’s just a farmer, you’re missing it. He’s a millionaire. Very good-looking guy. He really wants to find a wife and live the American dream.”

Soules ended up making it to the final three on The Bachelorette before Dorfman broke it off with him. Dorfman ultimately chose Josh Murray after saying goodbye to Nick Viall as well. Both Dorfman and Murray fully supported The Bachelor producers choosing Soules as the next leading man. Among those he beat out for the position was former contestant Arie Luyendyk.

“Josh and I are both rooting for Chris. I mean, he is a genuine guy, and I think you’ve seen the whole time… what a class act he is,” Dorfman told reporters last month. “We’re definitely on team Chris for Bachelor.”

Soules, who lists Rudy, Braveheart and Meet the Parents as his favorite movies, says he’s a family man at heart. He hopes that he can bring the woman he chooses back to his life in Iowa and have four to six children with her.

The Bachelor‘s 19th season kicks off Monday, Jan. 5 on ABC at 8/7c.
