Chris Rock & Diplo Escape Burning Man By Riding In Back Of Fan’s Pickup Truck

Chris Rock and DJ Diplo have avoided troubles relating to the Burning Man festival after getting a ride in a fan’s pickup truck.

Attendees at the Burning Man festival, which is held in the Nevada desert each year, are currently dealing with muddy conditions that have led to shelter-in-place orders due to heavy rainfall.

Diplo shared the ordeal in an Instagram video featuring him and Rock sitting in a pickup truck. Diplo and Rock were with five other people, in addition to bags of equipment.

“I legit walked the side of the road for hours with my thumb out cuz i have a show in dc tonight and didnt want to let yall down. Also shoutout to this guy for making the smart purchase of a truck not knowing it was for this exact moment,” Diplo captioned the post.

Rock and Diplo walked six miles in the mud before hitching a ride.

Diplo then shared a series of Instagram stories of himself walking to a private jet. “No one was making it out of burning man… no one believed we would get to dc for the show tonight. But God did,” Diplo captioned one of the posts. He later confirmed he made it to his Washington D.C. set.

The extreme weather has led to Burning Man attendees being ordered to “shelter in place” after the rain began on Friday evening. The Washoe County Sheriff’s Office announced Saturday that the entrance to Burning Man has been closed. The festival attendees have been told to “conserve food, water, and fuel, and shelter in a warm, safe space” due to flooding causing road closures.

Burning Man welcomes an average of 70,000 attendees every year. It has been described as “a global ecosystem of artists, makers, and community organizers who co-create art, events, and local initiatives around the world.” The 2023 edition was scheduled to take place from August 27 to September 4.
