Chris Pratt's Homeless Past
Pratt shared a picture of a van – complete with a decal of Shaggy and Scooby-Doo – that he lived out of when he was homeless before he made it big as an actor. “Can’t believe I found this picture!!!!This is the van I lived in!!!” Pratt captioned the throwback snap on Facebook. “In my hand is the script for the movie that got me out of Maui. Crazy.”
After leaving high school, Pratt headed to Maui where a friend of his was living at the time. ”I had a friend who was like, ‘Dude, you’ve got to come out here,”’ Pratt told Entertainment Weekly. ”We set up camp on the beach and lived the dream.”
While living in Maui, Pratt made ends meet with a job at Bubba Gump Shrimp Company. While working at the Forrest Gump-themed chain, Pratt waited on director Rae Dawn Chong. Chong ended up giving Pratt a part in Cursed Part 3 – the movie whose script Pratt is holding up in the picture.
Pratt went on to land a series regular role on Everwood, which ran from 2002-2006. He followed that up with a guest arc on The O.C. and movie roles in Wanted, Bride Wars, Jennifer’s Body, Moneyball and Zero Dark Thirty. Pratt is now best known for playing Andy Dwyer on Parks and Recreation and Peter Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy, which is currently in theaters.
