Chris Pine Skeptical Of A ‘Jack Ryan’ Sequel
Chris Pine played Jack Ryan in the much-hyped but underperforming Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit and believes that the poor box office showing makes it unlikely he’ll get another shot at the role.
Chris Pine On Jack Ryan Sequel
Pine, when asked if he’ll be reprising the part of Jack Ryan, admitted that he probably won’t get the chance.
“No, I don’t think it made enough money for that to happen,” Pine told Moviefone. “That’s one of my deep regrets, that we didn’t totally get that right.”
Before Pine, Alec Badwin, Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck had stepped into the character created by writer Tom Clancy. Pine hopes that even if he won’t get another crack at the part, some other actor will.
“It’s a great franchise and if it’s not me then I hope it gets a fifth life at this point,” he said. “It’s just great. I love the spy genre. I hope it’s done again and with a great story.”
Pine can currently be seen on the big screen in musical adaptation Into the Woods as Cinderella’s Prince. His upcoming projects include Z for Zachariah, The Finest Hours, Mantivities and the announced Star Trek 13, for which he’ll reprise the role of Kirk.
