SNL crew member Akira Yoshimura played Sulu in the sketch, reprising his role as the Star Trek character from the first time SNL spoofed the show back in season 1.
Chris Pine hosted Saturday Night Live this week for the first time.
The actor delivered a humorous monologue called ‘Name that Chris,’ where he made fun of how common the name is among Hollywood actors. He highlighted the small differences between them using a billboard portraying the remarkably similar actors.
Along with the monologue, Pine was part of another skit which recreated a Star Trek episode.
The ‘long-lost’ episode shows Captain Kirk (Pine) and Spock (Kyle Mooney) enlisting engineering help from Spock’s half-brother with the creative name Spocko (Bobby Moynihan). Spocko is a nightclub singer whose catchphrase is “Now that’s a Star Trek!”
