Chris Hardwick Update: Talk Show Put On Hold, NBC Cuts Ties After Ex-Girlfriend Chloe Dykstra’s Allegations

It all happened pretty quickly. Just days ago, Chloe Dykstra posted an essay detailing her abusive relationship with Chris Hardwick, but he denied it all. Nerdist, the company he created and later left, removed him from their website and now his show Talking with Chris Hardwick has been put on hold. Additionally, AMC networks said Hardwick has withdrawn as a moderator of AMC and BBC America’s Comic-Con panels next month in San Diego, California.

On Saturday, AMC network said Hardwick’s talkshow will not be airing during this time. Their official statement described how the network is handling the situation.

“We have had a positive working relationship with Chris Hardwick for many years. We take the troubling allegations that surfaced yesterday very seriously,” the statement said. “While we assess the situation, Talking With Chris Hardwick will not air on AMC, and Chris has decided to step aside from moderating planned AMC and BBC America panels at Comic-Con International in San Diego next month.”

Hardwick said he was “devastated” and “blindsided” by Dykstra’s post, adding that “as a husband, a son, and future father, I do not condone any kind of mistreatment of women.”

However, Dykstra described Hardwick’s behavior during their three-year relationship as abusive and controlling. After the two broke up in 2014, Dykstra said Hardwick even called agencies she regularly received modeling work from in order to blacklist her.

NBC also joined AMC and Nerdist in severing ties with the alleged abuser, on which Hardwick hosts the game show The Wall.

“These allegations about Chris Hardwick took us by surprise as we have had a positive working relationship with him. However, we take allegations of misconduct very seriously,” the statement said. “Production on ‘The Wall’ does not begin until September, and in the meantime we are continuing to assess the situation and will take appropriate action based on the outcome.”
