The trailer for the I Am Chris Farley documentary was released on Monday, showing interviews with some of the late comedian’s close friends and former costars.
The I Am Chris Farley documentary gives a glimpse into the too-short life of Farley, who passed away at the age of 33 in 1997 of a drug overdose. The doc, in addition to showing Farley’s rise from an energetic child growing up in Wisconsin to a bona fide celebrity, delivers a number of first-hand accounts from the people who knew Farley best.
Farley’s fellow Saturday Night Live alumni David Spade, Dan Akroyd, Molly Shannon and Adam Sandler all appear in the trailer for I Am Chris Farley, as well as SNL showrunner Lorne Michaels. Bob Odinkirk, Bob Saget, Tom Arnold, Christina Applegate and Jay Mohr also weigh in on the comic legend.
Those who spoke of Farley talk about his unrivaled humor and natural ability, as well as his kindness and the toxicity of fame.
“You can’t walk around being funny all the time,” Breaking Bad‘s Odinkirk observed. “You’ve gotta be yourself sometimes. You’ve gotta be alone sometime.”
I Am Chris Farley will be available on VOD, digital download, and DVD on Aug. 11.
