Chris Evans has suggested that following Avengers: Infinity War, he not portray Captain America again.
Evans has a contract with comic powerhouse Marvel that will be fulfilled after he completes Avengers: Infinity War. In a recent interview, the actor implies that he may be done with the role forever once this contract ends.
“Settling in on the couch, he groans. Evans explains that he’s hurting all over because he just started his workout routine the day before to get in shape for the next two Captain America films,” writes the Esquire interviewer. “The movies will be shot back to back beginning in April. After that, no more red- white-and-blue costume for the 35-year-old. He will have fulfilled his contract.”
When Evans first signed on as the patriotic superhero, he talked Marvel down to only a six film contract when they initially wanted nine. Technically, however, this next Avengers film will bring the total to seven.
“With Steve Rogers,” Evans says, referring to the real name of Captain America, “even though you’re on a giant movie with a huge budget and strange costumes, you’re still on a hunt for the truth of the character.” The Esquire article makes it seem as if Evans is ready to move on from his superhero days, even sarcastically referring to himself as a “f–king hero.”
