Chris Cuomo Hosts CNN Show After Positive Coronavirus Diagnosis

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo went on air Tuesday night, hours after revealing he tested positive for coronavirus.

The TV host’s brother, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo assured his viewers that he was well enough to go through with his show, but added, “You don’t want to get this.”

“I tested positive. Scary, yes, as you might imagine. But better me than you,” said Cuomo, 49, broadcasting from his basement, as he also did on Monday night.

Cuomo expressed pain and hurt in his voice due to him infecting members of his family, saying it hurt him more than anything the virus could do.

“So let’s focus, let’s use this example of me having it as proof that you can get it too, God forbid, we have to do everything we can to avoid being sick,” he continued. “We have to do it for ourselves, our families, and for those on the front lines who are saving the lives of people like me and many of you. Together as ever as one. That is our remedy.”

The TV host also posted a very upbeat tweet stating that he will continue to post and do his show from his basement. That he will be ok and “we will all beat this thing by being smart and tough and united!”

Speaking of his brother, Gov. Andrew Cuomo said in a press conference Tuesday Chris Cuomo “is going to be fine.”

“Even for essential workers, people have to be careful. Again, I’ve been trying to communicate that everyone – everyone – is subject to this virus,” the governor said. “This virus is the great equalizer. My brother, Chris, is positive for coronavirus. Found out this morning. Now, he is going to be fine. He’s young, in good shape, strong – not as strong as he thinks – he will be fine. But there’s a lesson in this. He’s an essential worker, a member of the press, so he’s been out there. If you go out there, the chance that you’ll get infected is very high.”
