Chris Colfer, one of the main stars on Fox musical comedy-drama Glee, appeared to announce on Twitter Thursday that he would not be featured on the show’s upcoming final season. Colfer's manager has since denied the validity of the tweet.
The tweet from Colfer's account read, “Due to personal issues, I have been let go from the cast of GLEE. Explanation will come shortly.”
After reports were made that Colfer had been 'let go' from Glee, the actor's manager told The Hollywood Reporter that his verfied Twitter account had been hacked. The manager added that Colfer has already signed a contract for the show's sixth season and still plans to appear in it. Furthermore, the reason why Colfer has yet to update his Twitter is because he's currently on a flight and without WiFi.
Studio 20th Century Fox has also confirmed Colfer's return for Glee's final season.
"We’ve been alerted that Chris Colfer’s Twitter account has been hacked," the statement read. "Rumors of his dismissal from Glee could not be further from the truth. We love Chris and look forward to working with him again this season."
Colfer has been a series regular in the part of Kurt Hummel – a fan favorite on the show – for all five of Glee’s seasons. For the last two seasons, Colfer’s character and Lea Michelle’s character Rachel were transplanted to New York City from Lima, Ohio and were still largely considered to be the heart of the show.
Glee, which premiered on Fox in 2009, was created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. The sixth season of the show is slated to premiere in September.
