Chris Brown Tweets, Then Deletes, About Possible Retirement

Chris Brown announced his possible retirement from the music industry on Tuesday on Twitter; however the suspicious tweets have since been deleted.

“Don’t worry mainstream America. After this X album, it’ll probably be my last album,” Brown reportedly tweeted.

He later hinted that his potential decision to retire was influenced by the negative response from those who still hold his 2009 arrest for abusing then-girlfriend Rihanna against him.

“Being famous is amazing when it’s for ur music and talent. I’m tired of being famous for a mistake I made when I was 18. I’m cool & over it!” Brown wrote.

Both tweets no longer appear on Brown’s official twitter account. And, late Tuesday night, Brown tweeted a link to a philosophical video titled ‘To Understand Is To Perceive Patterns’ by Jason Silva.

Earlier this week, Brown expressed his frustrations on the public’s perception of him, tweeting, “They don’t know about us and they don’t know s–t about me!”

The 'mistake' Brown appears to be refering to is his 2009 assault of ex-girlfriend Rihanna. The singer was actually 19 when he was arrested after assaulting Rihanna in their car the night before the Grammy’s. Brown was sentenced to community service, a domestic violence prevention course, and five years of probation – he will return to the courts for alleged violation of his probation August. The probation violation reportedly stems from Brown’s hit and run case, to which he pleaded not guilty.

This isn’t the first time Brown has expressed his frustration with the public’s response to his case of domestic violence. Back in 2011, Brown threw a fit backstage at Good Morning America after he felt he was asked too many questions about Rihanna.

In an interview with Ryan Seacrest in March, however, Brown seemed willing to accept responsibility for his actions, and appeared determined not to focus on his critics.

“People are entitled to their opinions. I can’t go around blaming. It’s all about my responsibility and me growing up as a man. So I think now that I’m becoming older, and trying to mature in this life under the public eye at all times, I have to focus on doing the right thing and being more of a humble individual,” he said on On Air With Ryan Seacrest.

On Monday, August 5, Brown turned himself in to authorities in L.A. for his alleged hit and run, and was released soon after. He will face trial on August 15.
