After a period of relative quiet, the music artist Donald Glover, known as Childish Gambino, has made a grand return to the entertainment landscape.
Glover, acclaimed for his multifaceted talents as an actor, writer, director and Grammy-Award-winning rapper, is set to embark on a highly anticipated world tour, which will kick off with a North American leg set to start in August 2024.
The North American portion of Glover’s The New World Tour will commence on August 11 in Oklahoma City and conclude on October 3 in Chicago, with stops in major cities across the United States and Canada, such as New York, Houston, Vancouver and Los Angeles.
Coinciding with the tour announcement, Glover has revealed the release of two new albums under the Childish Gambino moniker – Atavista and Bando Stone in the New World. The former is described by Glover as the “finished version” of his 2020 release 3.15.20, while the latter is slated to be his final outing as Childish Gambino and mark the retirement of the beloved stage name.
In a recent Instagram live session, Glover shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming musical offerings, and stated that the “rollout” is primarily focused on “fun.” He also briefly addressed the ongoing musical feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake; “I enjoyed every minute of it. He added, “Still, it’s kind of negative in a certain light.”
