Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes’ Father Faces Second Arrest This Year In Texas

Patrick Mahomes Sr., father of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, faces legal troubles after a second arrest in Texas this year, court records show.

The 53-year-old former Major League Baseball pitcher was arrested on June 29 for driving with an invalid license in Smith County, Texas. This incident occurred just months after a separate arrest for alleged drunk driving in the same county.

According to court documents, Mahomes Sr. was cited around 8:30 p.m. for operating a vehicle without a valid license. He also received a warning for disregarding traffic signs, suggesting a possible moving violation led to the traffic stop.

It remains unclear whether Mahomes Sr.’s license status is connected to his previous DWI arrest. He is required to appear before a judge by July 31 regarding this latest incident.

The June arrest adds to Mahomes Sr.’s current legal problems. He is currently awaiting trial on charges of driving while intoxicated, scheduled to begin later this month. On March 28, a grand jury in Smith County indicted Mahomes Sr. on charges listed as “Driving While Intoxicated 3rd or More,” indicating at least two prior convictions for similar offenses.

If convicted, Mahomes Sr. could face severe penalties. The charge carries a potential sentence of up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $10,000.

These legal issues come as his son, Patrick Mahomes II, prepares for another NFL season with the Kansas City Chiefs. The younger Mahomes, a two-time Super Bowl champion and NFL MVP, has not publicly commented on his father’s recent arrests.
