‘Chicago Fire’ Season 4 Episode 17 Recap: Casey Chooses People Over Politics
4/5
With the Alderman race coming to a finish, Firehouse 51 learns to prioritize their lifesaving duties before any other events.
In one scene, Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) finds a child’s body completely decomposed inside a house chimney.
‘Chicago Fire’ Season 4 Episode 17 Recap
When Detective Holloway shows Severide photos from the scene, he recognizes a necklace. He thinks he knows the body from a past case.
Becks is up by five percent in the polls and it’s only six days until Election Day. Becks is interviewed on the news and talks about the difference between himself and Lieutenant Matthew Casey (Jesse Spencer). Becks claims that Casey is trying to pick the taxpayer’s pockets twice considering a firefighter and the alderman position are government funded.
Chief Tiberg comes to the firehouse to let Chief Boden (Eamonn Walker) and Casey know that they do not want a “double dipping firefighter.” Casey tells the chiefs that he will defer the Alderman salary to remain a firefighter.
Casey was never notified of the final debate before the polls. The debate takes place during his next shift. His fellow firefighters agree to cover his duty, but Casey tells them that he’s a firefighter first, before anything and doesn’t want to disappoint the chief.
Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) volunteers her ex-husband to play his music at Herrmann’s (David Eigenberg) daughter’s birthday party. When he doesn’t show up, she has to improvise and create Molly’s Jr. where she acts as a kid bartender serving root beer floats.
Holloway informs Severide that the cause of death was a snapped neck.
Severide finds the mother, Emma, of what he believes is the body of Courtney Harris. Holloway finds out that Emma’s DNA matches the body.
Severide goes back to Emma’s to try and ensure her that she can trust the detective. Severide comes in the house to see Emma and her brother arguing. Her brother somehow slips that Courtney’s neck snapped without anyone ever telling him. Severide questions him and has Emma call Holloway immediately to arrest him.
As they celebrate Election Day at Molly’s, Casey gets a phone call that he won Alderman.
Chicago Fire airs Tuesdays 10/9c on NBC.
