‘Chicago Fire’ Postpones Filming After Cast & Crew Test Positive For Covid-19

Production of the NBC series Chicago Fire  was shut down after several positive cases of Covid-19 were detected among the cast and crew on Wednesday.

Production had recently resumed after the holidays, but they were halted in response to the outbreak of cases and the rest of the week’s shoot dates were postponed.

Producers are hoping to resume filming as normal next week, but it remains to be seen whether that will be possible.

Many productions have been recently impacted by the recent surge in Covid-19 cases, brought upon in part by the more transmissible omicron variant. CBS series NCIS and its spinoff NCIS: LA have both postponed production, with NCIS reporting positive cases among their cast members.

Saturday Night Live also had a recent Covid-19 scare which led to the show scaling back its holiday episode after several cast and crew members tested positive for the virus.

The initial lockdowns instituted in response to Covid-19’s 2020 outbreak brought Hollywood to its knees, with several films and series having to suspend or postpone shooting and lay off staff members.
