The autopsy report for Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington revealed that he had alcohol in his system the night he hanged himself.
The autopsy and toxicology reports were obtained by TMZ, and show that the singer had just a trace amount of alcohol in his system. This coincides with the less-than-half-full pint glass of Corona and an empty bottle of Stella Artois beer in Bennington’s bedroom on the night he took his life, July 20. He was 41-years-old at the time of his death.
A prescription bottle was also found on his nightstand, but it was concluded that Bennington had no drugs in his system at the time. He had been in an outpatient treatment program prior to his death.
His wife Talinda shared that Bennington had a history of depression and suicide attempts, including one in 2006 where he left the house with a gun after a night of drinking. He had reportedly been sober for six months prior to his suicide.
In addition, police found no suicide note, but did find a journal with what police called an “apparent biography.” Bennington had listed his six children in his will as beneficiaries. Linkin Park is releasing a live album in memory of the frontman.
