Chelsea Clinton and Ivanka Trump met through their husbands several years ago, and have vowed to remain friends throughout their parents’ political campaigns.
While parents Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump hurl insults at each other, their children Chelsea and Ivanka will stay friends.
“Our friendship didn’t start in politics; it certainly is not going to end because of politics,” Clinton said on ABC.
The pair have a lot in common, having grown up in the spotlight and living through their fathers’ front-page sex scandals. And both have set up camp in their parents’ political campaigns. Way back when, their parents were on friendly terms. The Clintons attending Trump’s wedding to Melania. Ivanka donated to Hillary’s 2008 presidential campaign.
Now the pair has decided to forgo public appearances together, to avoid criticism and paparazzi.
The only political sparring came after Ivanka told CNN that Trump has “always supported and encouraged women. He’d be amazing for women in this country.”
Chelsea could not believe that and asked about equal pay, “how would your father do that, given it’s not something he’s spoken about? There are no policies on any of those fronts that you just mentioned on his website – not last week, not this week.”
