Chelsea Clinton answered questions posed to her regarding her mother, Hillary Clinton’s, potential 2016 presidential bid, as well as the possibility of her own political future in a Today show interview.

The former first daughter currently works for NBC as a “special correspondent,” but has recently been making an effort to raise her own public profile and persona. During an interview while attending the Clinton Global Initiative event with her father, Bill Clinton, Chelsea Clinton suggested that her mother’s mind has yet to be made up about a 2016 presidential run.

“I deeply respect and appreciate all of the admiration and respect and gratitude for my mother’s service,” Chelsea said. “As a daughter, I very much want her to make the right choice for herself. I know that will be the right choice for our country, and I’ll support her in whatever she chooses to do.”

As for her own future in politics, Chelsea expressed that she’s happy with the current elected officials in her hometown New York City. If that were to change, however, she’d consider tossing her hat into the ring. “Right now, I’m grateful to live in a city and a state and a country where I strongly support my mayor, my governor, my president and my senators and my representative,” Clinton said on NBC’s Today. “If at some point that weren’t true and I thought I could make a meaningful and measurably greater impact, you know, I’d have to ask and answer that question.”

In addition to her recent interview with NBC, Chelsea covered the latest issue of Parade Magazine that hit newsstands on Sunday.
